The vision

One campus.
A national pathway.

BAN is proposed as a modern, multifunctional centre that connects grassroots participation with professional training, national and international competition, education and commercial activity.

The ambition is to position Nigeria as a leading African destination for cue sports development and international events, while creating a permanent institutional home for CSAN.

Structured programmes would support players, coaches, referees, officials and sports administrators. Hospitality, accommodation, retail and competitions are intended to help sustain the Academy's operations.

Development status: This page presents the proposed project from the executive summary. Facilities, table numbers and later expansion remain planning proposals; no opening date is specified.

The proposed campus

Five connected zones

Competition at the centre, supported by the facilities athletes and a national sporting institution need to thrive.

01 · The heart of the campus

Cue sports & competition

A main competition hall with training areas, spectator seating, player preparation and officials' facilities, electronic scoring, broadcast infrastructure and media facilities.

Initial planning: 8–12 pool tables, 4–6 Heyball tables and 2–4 mini-snooker tables, subject to technical validation.

02 · A pathway for every player

Academy & high performance

Coaching spaces, classrooms and junior development facilities, supported by video analysis, sports science, physiotherapy, medical support and a compact performance gym.

Developing emerging talent alongside junior players and elite athletes.

03 · A sustainable sporting institution

Hospitality & commercial

Basic and premium lounges, VIP facilities, a food court, café, sports shop and commercial spaces for athletes, sponsors, spectators and visitors.

Revenue opportunities across tournaments, hospitality, retail and other commercial activities.

04 · A place to stay and prepare

Residential

A proposed 30-room hostel with approximately 64 beds for athletes, coaches, visiting teams and international guests, with common rooms, study areas, laundry and accommodation management.

Accommodation is planned to grow through later development phases.

05 · A permanent home for CSAN

Administration & support

CSAN headquarters, Academy management offices, meeting facilities, security, maintenance, utilities and the infrastructure needed to operate a national sports campus.

Outdoor proposals include a five-a-side pitch, landscaping, parking and future expansion areas.

The development pathway

Build the foundation. Grow the ambition.

A phased approach responds to site constraints and initial funding. The approximate ₦2 billion budget is intended to establish the operational foundation, rather than deliver every part of the ultimate vision at once.

  1. Phase 1

    Core establishment

Essential competition and training spaces, a junior development centre, classrooms, medical and performance facilities, basic hospitality and a sports shop. CSAN headquarters, essential hostel accommodation, security, utilities, parking and basic broadcast infrastructure support the first operational academy.

  2. Phase 2

    Expansion & commercial development

Increase spectator capacity, premium hospitality and accommodation; improve broadcast facilities; develop a museum and Hall of Fame; and strengthen commercial and training facilities.

  3. Phase 3

    International competitiveness

Target the ultimate 2,000-seat competition environment, international training facilities and expanded accommodation, with a potential commercial hotel, larger conference facilities and further recreational and commercial infrastructure.
